Ireland's biggest club wants management

13th May 2009

A great job in a great location – Howth Yacht Club are looking for a general manager to take responsibility for the Club facilities, personnel and sailing activities.

HYC is Ireland's largest club with over 2,000 members, a 280-berth marina operating on a 24-hour basis, 70 moorings, boat park and lifting facilities, visitor berths, seven-day hospitality services and a full 12-month schedule of sailing activities.

The ideal candidate, say HYC, should have proven senior management experience in one or more recognised organisations and must be able to show strong leadership, motivational and interpersonal capabilities. Of course, experience in a yachting or marine environment would be a plus.

Commercial and negotation skills would also be required in order to manage the Club stakeholders – members and staff – and to consolidate and develop the financial and hospitality aspects of the club. Remunerations will reflect ability and experience.

If you think you're the one for the job, please contact Peter McKenna at HYC, Harbour Road, Howth, Co. Dublin, or email [email protected]

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
