Seascapes live from Boston for VOR

14th May 2009

The first world yacht race ever to come to Ireland will arrive in Galway in a week’s time. It will be the biggest sporting and tourist event in Ireland this year. Friday night's edition of Seascapes (May 15th, 10.30pm, RTE Radio 1) comes from the Volvo Race Centre in Boston on the eve of the race start across the Atlantic Ocean to the City of the Tribes, as the racing crews prepare for the start of this historic Irish leg of the race.

Presented by RTE’s Marine Correspondent, Tom MacSweeney and produced by Marcus Connaughton, Seascapes is broadcast at 10.30pm each Friday night and repeated at 5.02am on Monday mornings on RTE Radio 1. The programme is also available as a Podcast and is broadcast twice a week on the Digital Station, RTE Choice, on Wednesday mornings at 7.30am and Saturday lunchtimes at 12.30pm.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
