Younger visitors will love the quirky antics of ‘The Cherubs’ – two characters painted gold from head to toe who take to the streets on gilded scooters spreading divine mayhem. ‘The Fairly Fresh Fish Co’ – features two fishmongers selling their catch of the day – closer inspection of their tray reveals dancing prawns, and a very much alive octopus among other creatures of the deep.
A wide variety of acoustic and music acts will also be creating atmosphere throughout the festival. From Waterford, Spraoi Drums is a young people’s drumming initiative which produces a totally infectious mix of African, Brazilian and Caribbean beats.
Music sessions will be taking place all along the quays and offer something for all tastes from ‘The Swingin’ Blues Cats’ right through to ‘Paprika Balkanicus’ a lively blend of traditional and gypsy music preformed by artists from Romania, Slovenia and Serbia.
Also set to appeal to young visitors are the energy packed performances by students from the National Performing Arts School (NPAS). They will be performing in the chq building and on the George’s Dock platform (outdoor performances are weather dependant) every 45 minutes from 12 noon during the three days of the festival. Each 10 minute mini-show will be jam packed with the best singers, the funkiest dancers and the coolest kids in town.
