Rower of the Month awards: The judging panel is made up of Liam Gorman, rowing correspondent of The Irish Times, President of Rowing Ireland Tony Dooley and David O'Brien, Editor of Afloat magazine. Monthly awards for achievements during the year will appear on afloat.ie and the overall national award will be presented to the person who, in the judges' opinion, achieved the most notable results in, or made the most significant contribution to rowing during 2009. Keep a monthly eye on progress and watch our 2009 champions list grow. Thanks for your interest!
Lisa Dilleen is the Afloat Rower of the Month for May. The 17-year-old Tribesmen athlete won the final of the single sculls at the prestigious Munich International Junior Regatta and teamed up with Laura D’Urso to take the double sculls' title. Dilleen then went on to win the Championship Single Scull at the National Schools' Regatta in Nottingham. She is a fitting inaugural Rower of the Month.

We've got a favour to ask
More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.
Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.
So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
