Gardaí and local coastguard are arranging to remove a ghost yacht that washed ashore in Co Wicklow earlier this week before stormy weather sweeps in.

As RTÉ News reports, the 6.4m Horizon yacht ‘Katie’ was first spotted in Bray last weekend before drifting south of Greystones to Kilcoole beach where it has been since Monday (23 September).

It soon emerged that the boat was first reported in North Wales where it had beached with no one aboard.

The boat’s owners were contacted by Rhyl coastguard but before they could retrieve the vessel, it drifted back to sea and was not seen again until it appeared off Wicklow with its engine and rudder mysteriously missing.
