The All-Weather Shannon Class lifeboat “Val Adnams,” led by Coxswain Ken Cashman and his crew, swiftly assembled on the busy annual Regatta Day in the village.
Battling a challenging westerly wind, the lifeboat reached the scene at 4:20 pm and connected a tow rope to safely bring the boat and its crew back to the nearest safe haven of Courtmacsherry Harbour.
Dan Daly, the Courtmacsherry RNLI Lifeboat Launch Authority, commended the swift response of the 18 volunteers and praised the stranded individuals for seeking help promptly on a choppy day at sea.
Following their successful mission, the lifeboat crew returned to their mooring at 5:10 pm and proceeded to carry out a traditional Lifeboat Display for the large crowd assembled at 6 pm, under the guidance of volunteer Coxswain Mark John Gannon.
The Courtmacsherry Lifeboat crew involved in the rescue operation included Coxswain Ken Cashman, Mechanic Tadgh McCarthy, and crewmembers Evin O'Sullivan, Simon Locke, Luke Hanley, and Niamh Hurley. This was the first live callout on the “Val Adnams” for Luke and Niamh after completing their intensive recruitment training over the past 18 months.
