#d2Drace.ie – As Afloat.ie predicted in our 3.30am posting, a corrected time battle is being fought along the Kerry coast in the Dun Laoghaire-Dingle race. At 8am this morning, it is the turn of two vintage entries to come to the top of the offshore race leaderboard. The Dublin Bay based Dehler Db1 Red Rhum skippered by Nicholson leads from the defending champion Amazing Grace (Brian O'Sullivan), the Oyster 37 from Tralee Bay Sailing Club.
Liam Shanahan's J109 'Ruth', who seized the lead at dawn, is now back in third on IRC overall but with the overall race all still very much to play for. Less than half-an-hour of corrected time separates 2nd to 6th and as the forecast suggested a 3am these boats kept the breeze for a while longer than one time leader Antix, but they are now suffering the same fate along the Kerry coast leading to a corrected time battle among the smaller yachts.
