Afloat.ie: RC Laser Christmas League Starts

The Christmas RC Laser League starts next Sunday at 2pm at the National YC with 3 practice races followed at 2.30pm with up to 8 counting races for the series up to 20th December.

The Rugby international and the final of the F/Fifteen winter series interupted our Sunday racing somewhat over the last 2 weeks.

The first week enjoyed great racing in superb conditions with honours shared very evenly between John Hall, Roger Bannon and Kieran Foley.

The fleet have acquired a super automated starting system which is easy to use and loud enough to hear up to 30 feet away.

New marks have been put together by the NYC Boathouse staff and the removal of the buildings from the Carlisle Pier provides the fleet with much better wind.

Roger Bannon will be down from 1pm with my spares box to fix anything that has seized up over the summer including having a physio for those needing attention to their bodies!

For those who would like to have a try, the fleet have several demonstrator boats available to try out.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
