Afloat.ie: Australian 49er National Championships

2nd December 2009

Irish sailing and boating fans will be delighted to hear that Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern have attained an excellent 3rd place in the Australian 49er National Championships. The racing was over four days and the boys were consistent, in 4th place up until day four, when they sailed two excellent races and gained a place to finish in the top three. Check over the fold for some more detail and pics from Wangi Sailing Club.

Their next event will be in Sydney on 13th December when they will compete against the world's best. When they return home on 22nd December, it will only be to celebrate Christmas as they will head off to the World Championships in the Bahamas at the end of the year.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
