Annalise Murphy was second in this morning's medal race in Sail Melbourne leaving the National YC Laser sailor fourth overall in the event giving he overall victory in the 'Down Under Series,' the combination of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne race weeks.
She finished Melbourne on equal points with New Zealander Sara Winter who narrowly won the race from Annalise to finish third overall. After the unpredictable weather of the last few days the fleet got a decent south-easterly wind between 12 and 15 knots for the majority of the day. Dutch sailor Marit Bouwmeester’s fourth in the medal race gave her victory over Paige Railey who finished ninth in the medal race which lost her the overall win.Annalise leaves Melbourne tonight, getting home via Dubai and London tomorrow evening. Next event on her road to London 2012 is Miami Olympic week in late January.
