It may have been a smaller fleet, but it was no less competitive at the top of the National 18 dinghy South Coast Championships, which was won on Saturday by this season's standout performer, Peaky Blinders, sailed by Nick Walsh, Rob Brownlow, and Ed Rice.
The trio who sailed to success in Scotland in August – also won September's Royal Cork At Home Regatta and are now Southern Championship title holders in Crosshaven.
Racing over windward-leeward courses in a good ENE sailing breeze, the racing took place on the approach to Cork Harbour.
Race Officers were Tommy Dwyer, John Crotty and Joanne O'Brien.
After six races sailed and one discard, Peaky Blinders was three points clear of Alex Barry's Howlin' Mad on ten. Third was Charles Dwyer's Nacho on 11. Seven competed.
The fleet will race for the Donnelly Trophy next Wednesday night, and the Barry Trophy river race will then take place on Friday, Oct. 4th, to wrap up the season.
