Kirkpatrick Defends Ruffian 23 Title on Dublin Bay

#ruffian – Race officer Henry Leonard ran three Irish Ruffian 23 Championship races on last Friday as the forecast was for a lot of wind on Saturday and Sunday. Full results downloadable below as a PDF document.

Trevor Kirkpatrick from Carrickfergus sailing Carrageen, who won the championships last year, won all three of Friday's races. There was just 1 race on Saturday – in very breezy conditions. Diane II won Saturday's race with Cresendo second and Carrageen third.

Henry Leonard called it a day as the wind was steadily over 30 knots by the time Saturday morning's first race was over.

He was hoping to get a further two races sailed on Sunday but the conditions didn't allow for it.

So Trevor Kirkpatrick sailing Carrageen won. Diane II sailed by Alan Claffey RStGYC was second, and Cresendo sailed by Lorcan Balfe of the NYC was third.
