The Squib class Irish Championships takes place in the Royal Irish Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire on Dublin Bay this weekend.

Eighteen entries have been received from far and wide, including one from the UK. Based on the regional championship events which have taken place in Ulster, and Leinster, it would appear that the strongest fleets are based in Cultra on Belfast Lough and in Killyleagh on Strangford Lough.

Peter Wallace, current Irish Champion has been maintaining his performance levels, but will he be consistent enough to win a second championship in ‘Toy For The Boys’. At the recent UK championship in Cowes, Robert Marshall from Killyleagh in ‘Slipstream’ took an eighth place in one race in the 100 boat fleet, and 27th overall. He certainly has the speed necessary the win the event.
