Dun Laoghaire's National Yacht Club gathered on Saturday to salute top club achievements from 2015. Ten annual awards for outstanding sailing were presented ranging from cruising endeavours to Olympic campaigns.

In cruising, The Township Cup went to Michael and Ann Madsen for a 15–week 2,500 nautical mile cruise to Norway and back. Frank and Gemma Cassidy were awarded The Muglins Cup for their adventurous famly cruise to France on board their Pacific Seacraft, Ocean Blue.

In the offshore racing category, Liam Shanahan and family were awarded the Boyne Regatta Cup for their ISORA season win plus the Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race as well as Afloat.ie's Sailor of the Year Award.

In one design racing, The O'Leary Cup went to Flying Fifteen national champions David Gorman and Chris Doorly.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
