Queen's Regatta Battles Through the Squalls

15th May 2011
Queen's Regatta Battles Through the Squalls

Queen’s University Regatta had to deal with difficult conditions at Castlewellan. Some races had to be cancelled for safety reasons, and the squalls forced the organisers to limit most of the races to 1,000 metres from 3 o’clock on. One of the exceptions was the men’s senior eight, where Queen’s filled both first and second slots. Queen’s also won the women’s Division One eights through their intermediate crew, but Skibbereen had the fastest women’s four. Paul O'Donovan of Skibbereen was the fastest single sculler on the day: finals were not held in the men's single scull and rankings were given for the morning's time trial.
