Erne Head Cancelled Because of Floods

Erne Head Cancelled Because of Floods

Floods have forced the cancellation of the Erne Head of the River. The big rowing event was due to be held at Enniskillen on Saturday but the high water level made it impossible to stage safely.

The event secretary, Derek Holland, said that the course had debris floating on it after “an unbelievable month of rainfall”.

The event has been one of the key early season stalwarts, cancelling only twice before in 63 years.

All of the six heads scheduled so far in 2020 have now cancelled or postponed.  Cork Head of the River, scheduled for last Saturday, has moved to this Saturday.
