World Rowing Men's Crew of the Year -  Fintan McCarthy (left) and Paul O'Donovan, Men's Lightweight double scull, Ireland. The combination has been on the podium of every international competition in the very competitive lightweight men's double sculls. The Olympic Gold medal came after a tight battle with Germany but won by less than a second for what would be the first-ever gold medal for Ireland in rowing at the Olympics. The duo went unbeaten in 2021 and had previously won gold at the World Championships in 2019.
