Ireland's sailing, boating & maritime magazine

Tonight on RTE Seascapes

27th March 2009

Tonight's RTE Seascapes radio programme asks why motorboats are becoming more popular than yachts? In a separate item on Tom MacSweeney's show, he interviews the only men in Ireland who are to be prevented by law from going to work – the country’s fishermen.

The show also features:

* Latest news from the Lifeboat Service

* Inland Waterways Report

* A new marine innovation which gives tidal ‘on-the-go’ information reports to leisure mariners

* Maritime News and Miscellany

SEASCAPES, presented by RTE’s Marine Correspondent, Tom MacSweeney and produced by Marcus Connaughton, is repeated at 5.02 a.m. on Monday mornings on RTE Radio 1. The programme is also available as a Podcast and is broadcast twice a week on the Digital Station, RTE Choice, on Wednesday mornings at 7.30 a.m. and Saturday lunchtimes at 12.30 p.m.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
