#Angling - The Ireland 2014 Angling Show this weekend is the perfect opportunity for all ages to learn how to fish, according to the Dublin Angling Initiative (DAI).
The event at the National Show Centre in Swords, Co Dublin on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February will have a dedicated interactive family area where angling workshops in all types of fishing will be provided for children, teens and families alike.
"We want to bring newcomers into fishing by providing hands on demonstrations and practical advice about how to get started, what equipment is required and where to fish," says the DAI. "Many of Ireland’s most experienced and well known anglers will be present on the day and will be giving freely of their time, knowledge and expertise."
Other attendees at the show include the Sealife Centre in Bray, Co Wicklow, with its amazing touch pool where you can identify and handle various species of marine wildlife, while Inland Fisheries Ireland will have native fish from our rivers, lakes and canals. And Dublin Falconry will have some magnificent birds of prey on display.
But the focus of the show is, of course, angling - and a rod clinic will be available where you can try casting and learn all about the equipment needed to go fishing, such as rods and reels.
Younger visitors will be invited to take part in free interactive games and lessons in fly-casting and fly-tying from professional instructors, with prizes all weekend long - including a half-day boat fishing for two adults and two children in Wicklow Bay, and an annual pass for the Bray Sealife aquarium.
The Ireland 2014 Angling Show is open this Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. For more details see www.irelandanglingexpo.ie
