Doyle and Dilleen Top Rankings at Irish Indoor Rowing Championships

#Philip Doyle was the fastest competitor at the Irish Indoor Rowing Championships at The University of Limerick. His time of six minutes 1.7 seconds was a personal best but left him disappointed that he had not broken the six-minute mark.

Lisa Dilleen beat US single sculler Genevra Stone to win the women’s open category, while Siobhán McCrohan was the fastest in the lightweight single. Sanita Puspure, in the open category, and lightweight Sinéad Jennings both competed on the Wattbike for 30 minutes because of injury, with both hitting excellent marks.

One of the most remarkable performances of the day was by junior 17 athlete Emily Hegarty. The Skibbereen woman’s time of 7:14.4 was faster than the senior lightweight women.

The fastest lightweight man was Justin Ryan, with a time of six minutes 15.6 seconds, while Gary O’Donovan was less than a second behind in 6:16.4. Paul O’Donovan, competing in the under-23 category, was third fastest.
