On Saturday evening (from 1900), there is a “D2D Race Progress Sailing Supper” to check out “where are the guys now...” Michael Horgan, ex Commodore and many times competitor in the Round Ireland and the D2D off-shore races, will talk through his experience of the race, which will be followed “live” on screen. Paddy Boyd and Paul Kirwan will touch on safety aspects of offshore racing as well as telling us who’s who in the race and the boats to follow!
Thanks to GPS satellite communication technology it wil be able to follow the progress of the 37 competitors entered in Saturday's Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race. The race will be on display in the National YC bar throughout the week-end and up to the finish on Monday or even Tuesday!

We've got a favour to ask
More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.
Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.
So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
