#FastnetRace - Fancy joining a crew for this year’s Rolex Fastnet Race? Then you’d better act fast — as a place has opened up on the Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School (INSS) team ahead of the offshore challenge later this summer.
Kenneth Rumball and his INSS crew have already been building the racing boat experience they need on the J/109 Jedi via their round-Ireland charity excursion since spring, and their more recent participation in the Dun Laoghaire to Wicklow ISORA race, plus last weekend’s dash across the Irish Sea from Holyhead.
More practice races are set with another ISORA race next Saturday (27 May) and a one-day coastal practice race the following Saturday (3 June) from Howth to Lambay to Dublin port as part of Dublin Riverfest 2017.
Those will be followed by multi-day coastal practice run from Dun Laoghaire to Dingle from Wednesday 14 June, and a final offshore practice race from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire from Friday 30 June.
The sought-after crew spot is bound to be snapped up quickly — but if you miss it, there are still opportunities to get offshore experience on Jedi’s training voyage from Dingle to Dun Laoghaire from Saturday 17 June.
Details on this training voyage, which costs €199, are available from the INSS website HERE.
