#Rowing: Karol Doherty finished fifth in his heat of the Arms and Shoulders single sculls at the World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette in France. The City of Derry sculler would have had to finish first to have gained direct qualification to the semi-finals. The race was won by world champion Erik Horrie of Australia, who raced down the 1,000-metre course in a very good time of four minutes and 42.45 seconds.
