Public consultation on Ireland’s Marine Planning Policy Statement (MPPS) has opened for four weeks.
The consultation was signalled by Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy Darragh O’Brien at the opening of European Maritime Day in Cork when he explained that he had commissioned a national designated maritime area plan (DMAP) for offshore wind.
Section 7 of the Maritime Area Planning Act 2021 provides for a four-week consultation period during which representations are invited.
The consultation runs until July 7th at 5.30 pm, and further information has been made available on a dedicated webpage here
After the consultation period closes and environmental determinations have been finalised, a review and analysis of representations received will take place, O’Brien’s department says.
A revised draft of the marine planning policy statement will be prepared and this will then be submitted to the Government seeking approval.
