Public Consultation on Dublin Array Offshore Wind Farm Extended

23rd July 2025
Dublin Array
An additional two month period is being made available for inspection of the planning application and making of submissions and observations on the Dublin Array.

Public consultation on planning permission for the Dublin Array offshore wind farm has been extended, due to a technical error on An Coimisiún Pleanála’s website.

Kish Offshore Wind Limited and Bray Offshore Wind Limited, the joint venture companies owned by RWE Renewables Ireland and Saorgus Energy, confirmed that an additional two month period is being made available for inspection of the planning application and making of submissions and observations on the Dublin Array.

They explained that certain documentation relating to the application, made on February 28th 2025, was omitted from An Coimisiún Pleanála’s website www.pleanala.ie

“For clarity, the full application was made available at the three specified physical inspection locations and online at www.dublinarray-marineplanning.ie during the initial submission period,”they state.

The time extension is being made “to ensure full and effective public participation in the decision-making process”, they state.

The application (reference ABP-321992-25) is seeking planning permission for the construction, operation and decommissioning of the Dublin Array project, an offshore wind farm at the Kish and Bray Banks in the Irish Sea off the coasts of Counties Dublin and Wicklow.

This additional period will now open on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, with all submissions or observations to be received by An Coimisiún Pleanála not later than 5.30p.m. on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, they state.

More information is on the dedicated project website here.

About the Dublin Array Offshore Windfarm

The Dublin Array Offshore Windfarm was first proposed in 1999, envisioning a future powered by clean energy. Situated approximately 10 kilometres off the coasts of Dublin and Wicklow counties in the Irish Sea, this ambitious project aims to harness the power of the wind to generate electricity on a massive scale. With an impressive installed capacity of up to 834 megawatts, the wind farm is expected to feature up to 50 wind turbines, each standing tall with a maximum tip height of 310 metres. The anticipated economic impact of the Dublin Array is significant, with expected capital investment exceeding €2 billion. Planning permission was lodged in March 2025.
