O'Leary and Goodbody finish tenth

1st June 2009

A premature start in the penultimate race of last weekend's Delta Lloyd regatta in Holland cost Peter O'Leary and Tim Goodbody a top finish in a fortnight of competition that has already seen the Cork-Dublin pair crowned Eastern European champions.

The pairing however return home pleased to have finished tenth in the red hot 28-boat fleet given they also missed the first of the fifteen races with a broken forestay. They otherwise posted a string of top ten finishes including a win in race three. The event was won by Brazil's Olympic gold medallist  Robert Sheidt and Bruno Prada. Second was Fredrik Loof Johan Tillander of Sweden and third Alexander Schlonski.

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
