Sailing Into Wellness has opened a new headquarters on Pier Road in Kinsale, marking a significant milestone in the charity’s national development.
As Afloat reported last November, the Cork‑based charity Sailing Into Wellness was awarded a grant of €295,734.56 to establish permanent hubs and enhance its therapeutic sailing work.
The funds come from the New Solutions Scaling Up Scheme, which supports proven social innovation projects ready for growth.
The move provides a permanent base for year-round therapeutic sailing programmes in Cork and supports plans for regional expansion.
Founded in 2017, the organisation delivers sailing-based adventure therapy in partnership with community groups across Ireland.
Its programmes support people with mental health challenges, disabilities, addiction recovery needs and those engaged with youth and justice services.
The new Kinsale base will act as an operational centre for the development of regional sailing hubs.
In 2025, Sailing Into Wellness delivered more than 100 programmes to over 800 participants nationwide.
The headquarters was officially opened by Minister of State Jerry Buttimer.
The charity says the expansion will allow it to reach more communities while strengthening inclusion, wellbeing and access to sailing skills.
