Portrush Yacht Club was founded in 1894 and now has about 1000 members. It lies in the Town Harbour between two long beaches, the West and East Strands, on the spectacular northern Causeway Coast.

This year on 15th December Santa will arrive by Jet Ski at the Clubhouse and show off his 'sled' as well as giving each child a present. There will be face painting and crafts throughout the afternoon.

A week later, on December 22nd, there's the chance to help fundraise for the RNLI in the Santa Splash on the West Strand. This event is open to the public. Portrush YC is enthusiastic about this event: " It's a great way to start your festive celebrations, so get your Santa Hats ready as we raise money for the RNLI as they celebrate their 200th anniversary."

Registration is at midday on Kerr Street Green, with the Splash at 1.30pm.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
