It was a case of third time lucky for Gordon Kane's Westerly Fulmar Artemis from East Antrim Boat Club on Larne Lough, as she was the best performing of the nine Northern Ireland boats in this year's West Highland Week in Scotland.

Artemis took first overall in the Spinnaker Class 8 with a string of results which included three first places, a second and a third with a discarded fifth place.

West Highland Week takes in several places on the Scottish West coast, starting in the area of Craobh Marina and moving north to Oban, then to Tobermory, and back to Oban.

Storm Floris dictated a change to the schedule, and conditions were challenging, but Artemis was very much a family crewed boat with Heather, Katie, Lucy Kane and Owen McKinley on board and took all in her stride.

Gordon was pleased with the first place in his class. "This was our third year doing West Highland Yachting Week and certainly our best one yet. The race schedule was brought forward a day with Storm Floris coming in, with the fleet all tied down in the Oban area. The rest of the week remained windy and kept us on our toes, but Artemis enjoyed the challenging conditions, winning three races and the overall in Class 8. A brilliant West Highland Yachting Week for us".
