Plans have emerged for a new round-the-world event for ocean racing yachts which could set off from the starting line next October.

As Yacht Racing Life reports, a provisional Notice of Race has been published for what’s being called the Great Cape Race.

It suggests a four-leg offshore race around the globe on a traditional clipper route that takes in the three great southern capes — South Africa’s Cape of Good Hope, Australia’s Cape Leeuwin and Chile’s Cape Horn.

And it’s being pitched at grand prix ocean racers in the 60 to 100-foot range, such as the VO65s and IMOCA 60s signed up for the next edition of The Ocean Race in 2022.

Yacht Racing Life has more on the story HERE.
