The 2025 iQFOiL Games are set to begin in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, from January 29 to February 2. This marks an exciting start for the international windsurfing community as athletes prepare for the LA 2028 cycle.

Double Olympic bronze medallist Emma Wilson leads the British squad, returning after a break for recovery following Paris 2024. She'll compete alongside emerging talents such as Alice Read, Jennie Roberts, and under-19 world champion Darcey Shaw.

In the men's category, an eight-member team, spearheaded by under-23 world champion Finn Hawkins, aims for success. They've been joined by European silver and bronze medalists Andy Brown and Matt Barton.

This event will showcase the newly introduced sail sizes—women will race with a 7.3m sail, while men transition to an 8m sail. These changes aim to promote inclusivity among athletes of varying body types, contributing to a fairer competition.

Notably absent is Catrin Williams, a veteran of the women's circuit, who has transitioned to Formula Kite.

Athletes express enthusiasm about the event. Emma Wilson commented, "It’s a good chance to race on our new sail, which is exciting." Matt Barton added, "It will be a great opportunity to see how our training compares to the best in the world."

As the opening round of the iQFOiL Games approaches, spectators can anticipate thrilling performances from some of the sport’s top competitors.
