Ireland’s Eve McMahon holds a decisive lead in the ILCA 6 fleet at the Semana Olímpica Canaria de Vela.
The Howth Yacht Club sailor sits first on 29 net points after nine races.
McMahon opened the series with consistent top-five results, including wins in races two and nine. A 19th-place result was her only discard.
Event officials said both the women’s and men’s regattas follow the new Olympic format, with all standings carried into the final day. “The medal race will conclude competition tomorrow,” organisers stated.
The Netherlands’ Maxime van de Werken is second on 40 net points, while Britain’s Hannah Snellgrove is third with 45.
The regatta, hosted by the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, runs from 26 to 30 November and features ILCA 6, 470 and WingFoil classes.
McMahon will enter the medal race with an 11-point advantage.
