Eve McMahon remains firmly in contention at French Olympic Week in Hyères, sitting fourth overall after the qualification series in the ILCA 6 fleet.
The Howth Yacht Club sailor posted consistent results, including an eighth and seventh, to secure a strong position heading into the elimination series.
Her coach Vasilij Zbogar said she delivered “the strongest average across the fleet” in qualifying. He added that the next phase “is where the racing really intensifies”.
49er – Dickson and Waddilove Second Overall
In the 49er fleet, Robert Dickson and Seán Waddilove hold second overall. The Dublin pair recorded a third and seventh and are just two points off the lead.
Despite mid-fleet starts, they showed strong race management to stay in contention ahead of Gold Fleet racing.
49er – Development Pair Impress
Development pairing Ben O’Shaughnessy and Ethan Spain impressed with a race win and second place to climb to 12th overall.
O’Shaughnessy said they were “really pleased” with their response after an earlier protest setback, adding that improved starts allowed them to “sail the race on our terms”.
49erFX – Collision Costs Irish Crew
In the 49erFX class, Erin McIlwaine and Ellen Barbour endured a difficult day after a start-line collision. They will now compete in Silver Fleet.
In the ILCA 7 fleet, Fiachra McDonnell secured a place in Gold Fleet in 40th overall, marking a key milestone at senior level.

However, Finn Lynch and Ewan McMahon will sail in Silver Fleet after missing the cut.
Racing now moves into the elimination series, where fleets split into Gold and Silver ahead of the final stage.
