The first Water Wag race of the AIB Dublin Bay Sailing Club 2025 summer sailing season saw a turnout of 22 boats in a sunny but chilly light ENE breeze.
Race Officer Tadgh Donnelly aboard committee vessel Corinthian postponed the race in the hope that enough wind would enable him to get a start inside Dun Laoghaire Harbour. Unfortunately, the wind gods didn’t oblige, and racing was abandoned at 19.35.
Judy O’Beirne’s newly built Jenny Wren, number 55, and Andrew Craig’s newly built Sphinx, number 56, made their first appearance in the fleet.

The Water Wag is the oldest one-design dinghy in existence, having been devised in 1886 and formalised as a one-design class in Ireland in 1887. It was last modified in 1900.
