Dublin Bay Sailing Club’s (DBSC) AIB 2025 season came to a close on Saturday, 27 September, with a large turnout across keelboat and one-design fleets. Racing was held in medium offshore north-westerlies.
In Cruisers Zero IRC, John Treanor’s ValenTina won Race 21 in 1:44:33 corrected. Chris Power Smith’s Aurelia finished second on 1:51:02, with Sean Lemass’ Prima Forte third in 1:51:51. Tim Kane’s WOW followed in fourth, while Rockabill VI did not start.
Cruisers One IRC Race 23 was decided by seconds. Richard Goodbody steered White Mischief to the win in 1:42:58 corrected. Brian Hall’s Something Else was one second behind on 1:42:59, with Barry Cunningham’s Chimaera third in 1:43:55. Nine boats were entered, though only seven started.
No results were available for Cruisers Two IRC at time of press.
In Cruisers Three ECHO, Wynward (Wyn McCormack) topped Race 22 on 1:11:45 corrected. Frank Guilfoyle’s Papytoo placed second in 1:21:54, and Mona Tyndall’s Jiminy Cricket was third in 1:45:25.
Cruisers 4/5a VPRS went to Playtime (Phillips, Kidney & Curtis) in 1:01:17 corrected. PJ Timmins’ Misfits was second in 1:05:52.
Among the one designs, the Beneteau 31.7 fleet saw Camira (Brian Geraghty) win Race 22 in 1:41:10. Chris Johnston’s Prospect was second on 1:44:08, and John Power’s Levante third in 1:46:23.
The Beneteau 211 class raced once. Yikes (Peter Carroll and John Smith) claimed Race 44 ahead of Brian Kelly’s Mon Reve and Jacqueline McStay’s Small Wonder.
Flying Fifteens completed two races. Race 41 went to Ridgefence (Chris Arrowsmith), ahead of Keith Poole’s Mike Wazowski and Tom Murphy’s Fflagella. Race 42 saw Poole’s Mike Wazowski take first, with Ridgefence second and Ken Dumpleton’s Rodriguez third.
Sportsboats shared wins across two handicap races. Race 40 went to Jambiya (Martin Ryan) on 0:39:44 corrected, with Kevin Byrne and Mark Kane close behind. Byrne reversed the result in Race 41, winning on 0:27:20. Ryan’s Jambiya was second, and Kane’s Jambon third.
