Junior racing at Kinsale Yacht Club has drawn to a close for the summer season following the conclusion of the Kinsale Collective August League, which attracted fleets of more than 20 boats for its Tuesday evening racing off Charles Fort.
The series brought young sailors together in Topper and Optimist fleets, with Bill Appelbe coordinating the racing and Race Officer Tim Cronin running it, supported by parents both ashore and on the water.
Bendon Takes Topper Victory
Tristan Bendon produced a strong series to secure overall victory in the Topper fleet.

Behind him, Harry Appelbe won a close family battle for second place, finishing ahead of his sister Grace Appelbe in third. Ailbhe Fitzgerald took fourth, with Izzie Crowley completing the top five.
Sorensen Clean Sweep in Optimists
The Optimist fleet produced a Sorensen family clean sweep, with Olaf Sorensen taking overall victory ahead of Polly Sorensen in second and Penny Sorensen in third.

Kinsale Yacht Club thanked Ciaran Fitzgerald and Kinsale Collective for supporting the league and providing prizes and refreshments for competitors.
Although the August League marked the end of the club's summer junior racing programme, junior sailing will continue through the autumn with Sunday morning sessions.
