Stephen Lysaght’s Elan 333 Reavra Too and David Riome’s Sigma 33 Valfreya were the two ECHO winners at Kinsale Yacht Club’s traditional At Home fixture on Sunday (September 27).
The end-of-season gathering was finally sailed after the original August 30 fixture was postponed because of the weather.
Four boats contested the ECHO Spinnaker division, with Reavra Too taking the win on a corrected time of one hour, 12 minutes and seven seconds.
The victory continues a successful September for Lysaght and Reavra Too, who won IRC 1 in Kinsale’s Midweek Series 3 earlier in the month.
Reavra Too Leads Spinnaker Fleet
Carroll Bros’ Elan 40 Chancer took second in the At Home Spinnaker fleet, finishing on 1:14:08 corrected, just over two minutes behind Reavra Too.
Mathilde Dingmans and Gerard Campbell were third aboard the Elan 31 Cirrus on 1:20:27, while Raymond Hanley’s Yamaha 25 Toroloco completed the four-boat division.
Valfreya Wins White Sail Contest
There was a particularly close contest at the head of the 13-boat ECHO White Sail fleet, where Riome’s Valfreya won by only 32 seconds on corrected time.
The Sigma 33 recorded 1:17:35, with Alan Mulcahy’s Dufour 44 Godot second on 1:18:07.
Samuel Cohen’s First 32 Gunsmoke II completed the top three on 1:20:26, followed by Mike Walsh’s Cork 1720 1601 in fourth and John Stallard’s Sunfast 32i Siboney in fifth.
Traditional End-of-Season Gathering
As Afloat reported in its preview, the At Home marked Kinsale Yacht Club’s traditional end-of-season gathering, with keelboat racing followed by a barbecue at the clubhouse.
