Royal Cork Yacht Club’s Autumn League gets underway at Crosshaven this Sunday, September 27, with racing continuing each Sunday through October.
The Autumn League starts at the Royal Cork in Crosshaven this Sunday, formerly known as the ‘October League’ but always as ‘the Big One’ of the season by club cruiser racing members.
First Gun will be at 1055 each Sunday in October until the League finishes on the 25th, with the awards dinner in the clubhouse after the last race.
It is an open event, with visiting boats welcomed.
Classes are being decided by the race committee and will be publicised before Sunday’s start.
Results will be calculated using IRC and ECHO rating systems. Both Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker Divisions will be raced.
Overall results will be published including all boats competing in the event, with separate results for boats competing in the ICRA class, which is open to yachts that satisfy the definition of “Cruiser” as per the ICRA Constitution, according to the race committee.
The Royal Cork series is one of the two remaining qualifying Autumn Leagues on the 2026 ICRA programme, alongside the Howth Yacht Club Autumn League, with the two events forming the closing stages of this year’s ICRA programme.
Early weather indications suggest a moderate to fresh south-westerly for Sunday’s opening race. Current forecasts for Crosshaven point to around 15 knots from the south-west close to the 1055 first gun, with showers possible during the morning and drier conditions indicated later in the day.
An Entry Form must be completed via the Club online entry system prior to September 24th, 2026, and the entry fee of €120 paid in full. The form is available on the Club’s Keelboat Notice Board.
Racing will be in and outside Cork Harbour, “in the waters of, and adjacent to Cork Harbour”, according to the Notice of Race on the RCYC website.
“Courses will be set at the discretion of the Race Officer and can be a mixture of laid marks, coastal, round the cans courses (either from the Royal Cork Keelboat Racing Course card which can be downloaded from the Club Website in the Keelboat Notice Board or chosen by the Race Officer),” says the Race Notice.
