A body has been recovered after a passenger was reported overboard from a cruise liner off Scotland’s east coast, according to The Irish News.

The alarm was raised on Friday morning (21 August) after a man reportedly fell overboard from the cruise ship Ambition in the North Sea some 36 nautical miles east of Arbroath.

The Ambition, which had recently sailed to the Mediterranean on solar eclipse cruise, was en route from Lerwick to Dundee at the time of the incident.

Hours into a major search and rescue operation, Police Scotland confirmed on Friday evening that a body had been recovered, with formal identification yet to take place.
