The Superyacht Cup Palma moved up a gear on Friday as a second day of racing in excellent conditions produced more close competition across the fleet. The 30th anniversary regatta completed its second race in fresh breezes on the Bay of Palma, with several yachts extending their winning starts while others claimed their first victories of the event.

In Superyacht Class B, the 27-metre Hoek design Atalante 1 claimed victory ahead of opening-day winner Cervo, with Archelon third and Burrasca completing the class.

Skipper Dylan Warwick said the stronger breeze suited his yacht. "There was more breeze than yesterday in the first half of the race, and a lot more reaching, which let us hang in there with the big boats and get a good result," he said. "We were just trying to get around the track cleanly with no mistakes. To actually win the class was the cherry on the top."

Warwick also praised the regatta atmosphere, adding that gathering the yachts together ashore was a major attraction for owners.

In Superyacht Class A, Win Win made it two wins from two races to strengthen its bid for a third overall Superyacht Cup title. Spiip finished second, ahead of Point Counter Point and Inco.

The Y-Yachts class also saw a repeat winner, with Beati taking a second consecutive victory ahead of Distancia. Calabash climbed from fifth to third after the opening day's racing. Y-Yachts owner Michael Schmidt, sailing aboard Calabash, described it as "a great day for sailing" and praised both the racing venue and the regatta's shoreside atmosphere.

The multihull fleet produced another win for Highland Fling, which finished ahead of Allegra, Layla and Gaea.

In the J Class, Svea and Rainbow continued their head-to-head rivalry. Rainbow claimed victory in the day's opening race after Svea was sidelined by a technical issue, but Svea returned to win the second encounter.

The 30th anniversary Superyacht Cup concludes on Saturday with a scheduled coastal race for all classes.
