Dún Laoghaire Harbour has welcomed another high-profile visiting yacht with the arrival of the Canadian-flagged sailing yacht Road Taken. The 24-metre blue-water cruiser berthed on what has become the harbour's dedicated superyacht berth in Dun Laoghaire Marina on Friday, just days after the departure of explorer yacht Latitude.
The latest arrival continues a busy summer for Dún Laoghaire, which has hosted a succession of notable visiting yachts and underlines the harbour's growing reputation as a destination for international cruising vessels.
Road Taken is a 24-metre Southern Wind SW80 deck saloon built in 2003 by Southern Wind Shipyard. She sails under the Canadian flag and is a familiar visitor to Dún Laoghaire.
Designed by Farr Yacht Design with styling by Nauta Design, the yacht combines offshore performance with long-distance cruising capability. Her six-metre beam and distinctive 270-degree panoramic deck saloon are designed to provide comfort and visibility during extended ocean passages.
The yacht has been customised for global voyaging and has completed a range of documented regional and international cruises during more than two decades in service.
Road Taken arrived on the harbour's superyacht berth shortly after it was vacated by the 45-metre explorer yacht Latitude, another vessel whose visit attracted considerable interest on Dublin Bay.
The back-to-back visits highlight Dún Laoghaire Harbour's increasing profile as a stopover for larger cruising yachts crossing the North Atlantic or exploring Ireland's coastline. Dedicated berthing and the harbour's strategic location continue to attract a growing number of international visitors each season.
