Fish Kill In Co Down River Affects Hundreds Of Brown Trout, Sea Trout

#Angling - More than 300 fish – including brown trout and sea trout – have been killed in a "major pollution incident" on the River Enler in Co Down, as the Belfast Telegraph reports.

And local anglers have expressed their upset over what looks likely to be the result of two separate incidents on the river, which was recovering after a serious fish kill in 2013 that saw a farmer fined £6,000 for his role in the loss of nearly 5,000 fish.

"This incident is not as bad. But at the same time, we have lost juvenile fish and more," said local marine biologist Ian Kittle.

"Our resident brown trout are dead and we also found a large sea trout that had been coming up from the lough to spawn."
