O'Donovans Race to Silver Medal at European Championships

5th August 2018

#Rowing: Ireland’s Paul O’Donovan and Gary O’Donovan do not do boring finishes. They took silver at the European Rowing Championships in Strathclyde in Scotland in a stirring three-boat battle.

Norway raced at the head of the field from 1,000 metres. They came under pressure from Italy and Ireland, who kept pushing up and biting into the lead.

From 1750 metres Italy pushed up and led Ireland, but the O’Donovans produced their excellent finish and took second.

Earlier, Aoife Casey and Denise Walsh had taken second in their B Final, eighth overall.
