PS Waverley, the World’s last seagoing paddle steamer is to operate a first cruise from Warrenpoint Port, Co. Down on 30 May. This follows a call to the port on Carlingford Lough in October, 2022, when as AFLOAT adds the 76 year-old vessel took on bunkers (fuel) during a repositioning voyage from London to Scotland to the steamers homeport of Glasgow after a season of excursions along the English south coast and Thames Estuary. The Waverley has made cruises out of Belfast and Red Bay, Co. Antrim, whereas the first visit based out of Dublin in 1984 involved calls to Dun Laoghaire, Wicklow,Arklow, Rosslare and Cork and a return to the Irish capital which last took place in 2001.
