In Derry, planning permission has been granted for a new maritime museum and archive centre on the banks of Lough Foyle.
Its location will be at Ebrington Square on the Waterside, which will involve use of a former barracks near to the Peace Bridge, which connects the site of the museum with the rest of the city.
Approval for the development of the new facility came from Minister John O’Dowd.
The application for the proposals was considered by the Department for Infrastructure as a reserved matter (RM) for the development of part of the site at the former Ebrington Barracks.
Commenting on the planning permission, the Infrastructure minister described the new public facility as "great news for the city and wider region".
"This approval is an important scheme which will continue the physical, economic, and social regeneration of Ebrington Square, a key development site within the city.
