Garmin has unveiled the LiveScope 2 Series, the latest generation of its live-scanning sonar technology for recreational anglers. The new range promises sharper images, greater range and a simplified installation, while removing the need for a separate sonar black box.
The LiveScope 2 Series introduces three new transducer models designed to deliver clearer real-time views of fish, bait and underwater structure. According to Garmin, the new system offers 20% higher resolution, improved noise reduction and wider sonar coverage than the previous generation. Integrated image stabilisation and faster processing are also intended to improve target tracking and lure presentation.

Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing, said the new technology builds on the company's pioneering live sonar platform. "LiveScope revolutionised the way anglers approach the water by giving them a real-time view of what's happening below the surface." She added that LiveScope 2 provides "clearer target separation at both short and long ranges, up to 50% more detail, broader sonar coverage and a streamlined setup that eliminates the need for a black box".
The standard LiveScope 2 (LVS44) increases sonar range by 25% to 250ft while improving image resolution. The LiveScope 2 HD (LVS42HD) is optimised for shorter-range fishing, offering up to 50% more detail at distances of up to 125ft.
Garmin has also introduced a dedicated LiveScope 2 HD Ice Fishing Transducer, featuring a shorter cold-weather cable and an integrated power and network connection.
All three models connect directly to compatible Garmin multifunction displays, simplifying installation. Built-in sensors automatically switch off the sonar when the transducer leaves the water and provide water temperature readings. The new transducers are also compatible with Garmin accessories, including the Spy Pole mount and GT360UHD transducer for combined live and 360-degree sonar views.
The LiveScope 2 Series goes on sale from 10 July. The LiveScope 2 has a recommended retail price of £1,899.99 (€2,199.99), while the LiveScope 2 HD and Ice Fishing versions are priced at £1,989.99 (€2,299.99).
