A 1980-built J24 racing yacht is on the market in Kinsale, Co Cork. Jibber Jabber, built by Westerly in the 1980s, is described as “an excellent racing J24 in good condition with a good hull (no osmosis)”.

The white gelcoat hull with grey deck and white border has a listed weight of 1,360kg. The keel has been stiffened, and the boat features a low hatch and centre lift.

Sail inventory includes two North mainsails, two genoas and two spinnakers. A lightly used Watson Genoa is also included. Deck hardware is by Harken. The mast was replaced in 2006 and is reported to have had very little use.

In 2016, the boat underwent extensive work. These included a deck balsa recore, repairs to stanchion bases and rebedding of all deck hardware with G10 backing plates.

Keel stiffeners were replaced. Bulkheads were retabbed and highly loaded areas reinforced. Other works included a rudder refurbishment, hull reconditioning, hatch repairs and new iroko wood supports to the companionway hatch. A new V-berth was fitted and sealed with access hatches in line with later J24 models. A new interior sole was also installed.

The vendor states that “all the common problems of the J24 were repaired”.

The yacht requires antifouling. The twin-axle road trailer is included but requires new tyres. Jibber Jabber is currently stored ashore on its trailer at Kinsale Boatyard, Co Cork. The guide year of manufacture is 1980.
