Irish Crews Beaten in Finals

Two Irish crews reached finals at Henley Women’s Regatta today. Neptune’s elite lightweight pair of Elaine Fitzgerald and Claire Ludlow lost to Mortlake, Alpha and Anglian by three lengths, while Portora’s schools’ eight went down to English opponents by half a length.

Henley Women’s Regatta (Irish interest), Sunday

Eight – Schools: Headington School, Oxford BC bt Portora ½ l.

Elite Pair – Semi-Final: Leander bt Belfast 2l.

Elite Lightweight Pair – Semi-Final: Neptune bt Upper Thames 1½l.

Final: Mortlake, Anglian and Alpha bt Neptune 3l

Sculling

Elite Quadruple – Semi-Final: University of London bt Old Collegians 1¼l.

Elite Double – Semi-Final: Leander bt Old Collegians 3l.

Elite Lightweight Single Scull – Yarm School (Copeland) bt Queen’s 2¾l.
