The Octane Windstopper® Range is constructed using a 3-layer Windstopper® laminate design. Two different weights of the 100% windproof, breathable, water-resistant fabric are strategically positioned in the garments. This means that in specific high movement areas such as under the arms, high stretch panels are used to maximise flexibility. This super-stretch, ultra lightweight fabric is finely tailored to ensure an optimum streamline fit but without compromising performance.
The collared jacket has a lightweight, water resistant front zip with welded, streamlined zipped chest and side pockets, pre-moulded cuff tabs and shockcord adjustment at the hem. The same ergonomic design technology has been applied to the waist-high trousers but for added protection when racing or moving around the boat, our designers have incorporated 500D Cordura seat and knee reinforcement.
The highly versatile Windstopper® Soft Shell fabric means the Octane Windstopper® Range can be used not only as a top layer in clement conditions while taking part in activity sports such as sailing or skiing, but also as a mid layer, and as a stylish and fashionable alternative to the après sport wardrobe.
Ben Ainslie – the triple Olympic Gold medallist who uses Octane clothing – says: “As an athlete competing at top level, I expect the best from my performance clothing. What I look for in clothing is something that enables me to move freely around the boat. Once on it works, and I can focus on competing. It needs to be versatile, and functional, and the new Octane Windstopper® product range ticks all those boxes.”
