A SUCCESSFUL 'ON THE WATER' EXPERIMENT
Two years ago, we experimented with an On the Water Boat Show in April, and we were quite successful. So much so, that after many hours of deliberations, we decided to try to build on this success. We were all aware of the potential pitfalls of an outdoor show in April in Ireland, but we considered all the options and decided that this is the best location and the best time of the year for the marine industry in Ireland.
Certainly, there are areas that we needed to improve upon, and we have addressed these issues to bring you all both the exhibitor and the visitor an even bigger and better show this year. The covered space has been greatly increased to over one thousand square metres and it has something for everyone, whether they are beginners or top flight professionals, inland waterway enthusiasts or ocean navigators, sailors or powerboat specialists, water-skiers, divers or sea anglers.
Our emphasis has been to try to accommodate all areas of the marine leisure industry and develop a strong market for marine leisure products throughout Ireland. We now have over 100 member companies and must support these companies as much as possible. We have strived to bring quality, service and value for money to the end user and in that way keep our customer base at home.
On this basis, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you all back to Malahide for the 2008 Lombard On the Water Boat Show.
The marine leisure industry in Ireland now has two successful promotional platforms through which to exhibit its wares, the Lombard On the Water Boat Show in the even numbered years and the Allianz Irish Boat Show held in the RDS on the alternate year.
We wish to thank Lombard Marine Finance for their continued generous support for the 2008 event and wish all of our visitors an enjoyable and productive event, and our exhibitors a very successful outcome!
